Flying Geese: Part III

Despite a very busy last week both at work and home, I managed to find half an hour after work on Saturday to finish up the binding on my Flying Geese mini quilt! I was actually clipping the excess threads just as my in-laws pulled up, talk about perfect timing.

Because I was in a bit of rush, I chose to machine sew the binding on. It felt a bit like cheating, but I do like the finish and it doesn’t seem nearly as delicate as hand sewn binding.  I did have some trouble with the mitered corners, not when attaching the binding to the front but after folding it over to the back.  But a bit of touching up for my own benefit, as I’m sure no one will ever notice the nit-picky things I seem to, and I think it looks great.

With my 8-year anniversary, house guests and Thanksgiving this week, I don’t know when I’ll find time to sew for the shop again. Hopefully it won’t be too long; I’m itching to spend some quality time with my sewing machine! Of course, getting to visit with family is just as great! :)
